Update: It seems that Nemoptic is bankrupt, and even their site is not online anymore...

Nemoptic has released a video showing their new active-matrix e-paper prototype:

There isn't a lot of information on this monochrome display, but we'll keep watching.

Sriram Peruvemba, VP of marketing at E-ink is showing new plastic-based flexible display prototypes. This is a long video, in which he also shows all sorts of other E Ink based displays :

Check out this nice video showing how Liquavista's displays behave outdoors. This short clip shows a couple of displays and a regular LCD (the laptop in th top-right). The liquavista's display are better, of course:

Prime View International (PVI) was the international name Yuan Tai Technologies of Taiwan. Now they have decided to change the international name to E Ink Holdings Incorporated. The company reaffirms their strong commitment to ePaper.

E Ink Holdings Incorporated will offer its ePaper products under the brand name ‘E Ink’ and its LCD products under the brand name ‘Hydis’.

LG Display says that they plan to become the top e-paper maker by 2012, worldwide - when they'll introduce a flexible, color e-paper panel. LG have shown a 19" flexible monochrome E Ink based panel back in January 2010.

LG Display has also entered into a partnership with iRiver to make e-readers. They hope to produce 1 million units in 2011.

Here's an interesting 'test' - comparing the iPad's IPS-LCD display to a Pixel-Qi one:

Delta Electronics is showing their color e-paper displays (using Bridgeston's technology). There's a 13.1" display, and a smaller panel for e-tags:

Zikon has developed a new kind of nano-technology based electronic-ink display. They say it can be cheaper than E Ink (as it can be printed more easily and does not require encapsulation)and is much faster (and can show videos). They estimate that simple displays can be made within 1 year - and are considering making a "color-changing" fingernail (or nail-polish, really). Here's a short interview with their CTO explaining how this all works:

PVI's Chairman Scott Liu says that products that use color E Ink displays are expected by the end of 2010. This is earlier than previous PVI estimates. The color panels are currently sampling to customers, but no definitive partnerships have been made public. 

Here's an interesting comparison, a Pixel-Qi transflective LCD technology (with a touch layer) against the Google Nexus-One AMOLED display. The Pixel-Qi behaves much better than the AMOLED display... It'll be interesting to see how it compares to the new Super-AMOLED displays.
