The Light Phone 2 is a simple 4G (LTE) phone that is based on a large E Ink display. The Light phone 2 is based on the company's own OS and supports messaging, phone calls and more simple functions.

The Light Phone 2 was funded in a crowdfunding campaign (which reached its goals very quickly). The phone will cost $225 as part of the campaign, with a $400 target retail cost. It will ship by April 2019.

New e-paper device:Hisense A2 Pro

The Hisense A2 Pro is a dual-display Android smartphone that features a 5.2-inch 960x540 E Ink display on the back. The front (and main) display is a 5.5-inch FHD OLED display. Other features include an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset, 4GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage, microSD slot, 12 MP camera and Dual-SIM.

New e-paper device:YotaPhone 3

The YotaPhone 3 is the 3rd-generation dual-screen smartphone. The YP3 features a 5.2" E Ink display on the back and a 5.5" FHD AMOLED as the main display. Other features include a Snapdragon 625 CPU, 4GB of RAM, 64/128 GB of storage and a 13MP camera.

YotaPhone will start accepting pre-orders in early September 2017, with the 64GB priced at around $350.

New e-paper device:HiSense A2

HiSense's A2 is a dual-screen smartphone that features a 5.5" FHD AMOLED screen on the front and a 5.2" 960x540 E Ink screen on the back side. Other features include Android 6.0, 1.4Ghz octa-core CPU, 3/4GB of RAM, 32/64 GB of storage, finger print sensor, a microSD slot and Dual-SIM.

New e-paper device:Siswoo R9 Darkmoon

China-based Siswoo's R9 Darkmoon is a dual-screen smartphone that has a 5" Full-HD LCD display and a secondary 4.7" 540x960 E Ink display. The E Ink can be used to display e-books, and Siswoo is also talking to consumers to think of how to use the secondary panel.

Other features of the R9 Darkmoon: Android 5.0, 1.7Ghz 64-bit octa-core CPU, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal memory, Dual-SIm, LTE, and Qi wireless charging. The R9 Darkmoon will be released "soon", according to Siswoo.

New e-paper device:Onyx Midia

The Onyx Midia is an Android smartphone that has a 4.3" front-lit E Ink. Other features of this phone include a low-end Rockchip CPU, 4GB of storage, micro SD slot and a 1,800 mAh battery (enough for more than two weeks).

Onyx hoped to start producing the Midia in April 2014, with plans to ship in Europe for €140. The device never went into production, as far as we know.

New e-paper device:Alcatel One Touch Hero

Alcatel's One Touch Hero is a large (6") smartphone (or phablet) with a Full-HD LCD, Android 4.2, a 1.5Ghz CPU and 13 mp camera. The phone has some interesting accessories - a cover with a LED screen and a pico projector stand. And a cover with a large E Ink display. We don't have any details on this E Ink, it looks about 5" or 6" in size and will enable reading books and newspapers.

The One Touch Hero will launch in October 2013.
