New e-paper device:Dasung Link

Dasung's Link is a portable 6.7-inch 300 PPI E Ink display, that can pair with your smartphone to provide a 2nd display. There are three models: wireless iOS, wireless Android, and wired. The wireless versions come with a 5,000 mAh battery cover, while the wired versions has a lower power consumption and works with select Android models.

The Dasung Link will launch soon in China.

E Ink is the first display company to achieve RE20, as 20% of its energy is from renewable sources

Back in March 2022, E Ink announced that it has joined RE100, a global renewal energy initiative, and has committed to use 100% renewable energy by 2030. The company announced today that 20% of the energy it uses is generated from renewable sources (RE20) - the first display company to do so.

Familux resort chain installs over 150 E Ink signage displays

Small luxury hotel group Familux has installed over 150 E Ink displays at its four resorts, using the displays for several applications. One application is the Program Wall, which uses 18 screens to show guests the day's event, QD codes to sign up and more.

Visionect provided the screens and system to Familux, while MIndstream provided the programming and data management services.

EIH sees increased demand for ESL displays in the near future, but could see lower eReader and eNotebooks sales

E Ink Holdings says that it expects its revenue to increase slightly in this quarter as demand for electronic shelf labels is on the rise, but it raises concerns about a recession in the near future which could decrease demand for e-readers and e-notebooks.

EIH is targeting to enter the US ESL market via partners next year, and it estimates that it the market in the US is 10 times bigger compared to the EU market. The company is currently not changing its capital expenditure plans for 2022 and 2023, and it plans to increase production in its production lines in Hschincu, Taiwan (and build new lines) in 2022-2025. It has decided to delay its planned new line in Guanyin.

Huawei sold over 110,000 MatePad Paper devices in two months, sues Amazon over E Ink patents

According to reports, Huawei filed a lawsuit against Amazon and its hardware partner Compal Electronics, saying that Amazon's Kindle being produced in China infringe upon Huawei's E Ink patents.

It is revealed that Huawei sold over 110,000 units of its MatePad Paper device in just 2 months, surpassing Amazon's Kindle sales in the same period. Amazon announced plans to withdraw from the local market in China earlier this year.

McLaren tests E Ink ads in its racing cars

The McLaren F1 team have placed a small E Ink display on the cockpit of its racing car, as it aims to replace the current sticker-based advertising with something more dynamic and sophisticated.

The integrator is a company called Seamless Digital. This project will enable to rotate advertisers without removing stickers, and sell smaller ad packages (i.e. you can endorse just one 'lap') which may increase revenue.

New e-paper device:Philips 24B1D5600

The Philips 24B1D5600 is a computer monitor that includes two different displays: a 23.8" 2560x1440 75Hz LCD and a 13.3" 1200x1600 E Ink Carta display with its own USB charging.

The Philips two-in-one monitor is available in China for 5,999 yuan (around $830).
